Supergirl Season 4: 3 Ups & 1 Down From 'Man Of Steel'

Ups...

3. Getting Straight Into It

Supergirl J'onn Kara
The CW

It's not unheard of for some TV shows to finish an episode with an exciting cliffhanger, only to jump a while ahead at the beginning of the next one, often cutting out some of the juiciest scenes in between. Unfortunately, it does happen quite often and it leaves viewers feeling short-changed and portrays the original cliffhanger as nothing more than a cheap tease. Thankfully, Supergirl did not fall victim to that.

After last week's episode concluded with kryptonite poisoning the earth's atmosphere and Kara descending into a freefall, this week's outing wasted absolutely no time throwing us right back into the action. The D.E.O. quickly figured out that the environment had been contaminated with Kryptonite and sent J'onn to save Kara before she collided with the ground (as the fall would kill her in such a kryptonite-induced state).

With time (and the atmosphere) against them, Alex, Brainy and the entire D.E.O. looked on, hoping that J'onn would get to her - and he did, just in time. This was one of the best edge-of-seat moments that the show has produced in recent memory, and it made for one heck of an opening sequence.
