The Simpsons' Steamed Hams But It's A Fan Theory

The Simpsons episode 22 Short Films About Springfield may have aired over 20 years ago, but 2018 has given a new lease of life to one of its greatest segments.
Principal Skinner and Superintendent Chalmer's luncheon, where the hapless Seymour serves up 'steamed hams' after burning the roast he was making, has become a viral sensation over the past few months, parodied with everything from 'Steamed Hams but it's in Twin Peaks' to 'Steamed Hams but it's a GTA mission' and even 'Steamed Hams but it's translated in to Chinese and then back in to English on Google translate'.
Now, in the internet's neverending quest to explore the skit, a Redditor has a fan theory offering an explanation of why Skinner needed to serve up the hams anyway. Yes, it's because he ruined the roast, but why exactly did that happen?
It's a fun little theory, and since Chalmers arrives and tells him that he made it there despite Skinner's directions, it does make sense, while it also fits with what we know of Skinner's character.
