14 Things Fox Wants You To Forget About The Simpsons

"We'll fake it, and sell it to the Fox network!" "They'll buy anything!"

You'll never stop The Simpsons...

The show is still going (if not strong) in its 29th season, a remarkable feat for any TV show, let alone an animated sitcom that started out as a series of shorts on an entirely different series (The Tracey Ullman Show).

Along the way it's become one of the greatest TV series of all time - and there's a strong argument to be made that it is the best ever - despite the fact it now has far more bad seasons than good. Indeed, it's really transcended that debate, standing as its own considerable volume in pop-culture history.

All this was achieved despite airing on Fox, a channel well known for not giving shows a chance (see: Firefly, Arrested Development), as well as the news arm spouting all manner of right-wing nonsense you wouldn't associate with being the home of such an intelligent and hilarious TV show. Not that the Simpsons writers have ever shied away from that topic.

It may be an important part of history, but it's one that has, on occasion, been rewritten. The Simpsons has been running since 1989, and they've got stories for years. It's no surprise they'd want you to forget a few.
