Over the years, The Walking Dead has shocked fans with a brutal take on humanity following a zombie apocalypse, with some episodes in particular proving to be particularly hard-hitting. One of the major problems with standard zombie films is that there isn't enough time for audiences to realistically care when a characters is mauled, chewed or slashed. There are the cartoony, arrogant types who you can safely bet your house on receiving a grisly death, while there are usually weak members of the group who toughen up in time to survive the living dead onslaught. Though while Rick Grimes won't be going anywhere just yet, nobody is safe in The Walking Dead; anybody can die at anytime, and when they do, you know enough about the character to judge whether or not you're satisfied that they're gone. Moments of peace can be splattered in an instant, and it's this constant tension that keeps the legions of dedicated Walking Dead fans returning for more. There are some huge, huge moments throughout the entire series, but the show does a fine job using episodes to ramp up the tension before unleashing a savage scene. But which episodes have had fans weeping, gasping and - very rarely - celebrating? Let's take a look at some of the finest Walking Dead episodes ever to grace our screens.
