Spider-Man's most faithful adaptations have been on the small screen...

As The Amazing Spider-Man hits UK Cinemas on Tuesday (our review HERE), there is no doubt that it will divide opinions, which is not a surprise as so many are still shocked and confused about why Sony decided to reboot a franchise that was so young in the first place. Whether or not you enjoy new director Marc Webb`s direction of our web-slinging hero, there is no doubt that you would have enjoyed the generations of animated TV series which Spider-Man has graced. Here is a countdown of the best ones.

5. Spider-Man Unlimited

After the well liked 1994 version of Spider-Man was cancelled it would be almost impossible to better the show doing the same thing...so they didn€™t. This Spider-Man was completely different to the show that came before it. Spider-Man's suit was different, he could turn invisible and had sonic weaponry; it was even set on a different planet. Despite this, the show was put in the background of rival shows and couldn€™t rake in the viewers in the masses and was eventually, like all Spider-Man shows cancelled. I like a show which tries to be different but not for the sake of it, and I feel that it wasn€™t, it was enjoyable and deserves more credit than it was given.

4. Spider-Man and His Amazing Friends

First shown in 1981 but watching this you can really see that all the later Spider-Man's have taken inspiration from the show. In the show Spider-Man was partners with Iceman and Firestar (originally Human Torch) and they aided him in fighting crime. I feel the show has a timeless quality about it. It's able to capture the 'Spidey-humour' and throw in some morals for kids, the show was very popular at the time and set the Spider-Man animation snowball rolling for the future. Spider-Man and His Amazing Friends wouldn€™t be out of place now on Cartoon Network, and can be seen on Netflix for those who have an urge for some nostalgia. Click "next" below for part 2...
