The Walking Dead 5.6 Review - 5 Talking Points From Consumed

Hey Grady, Daryl and Carol are coming to get you.

Much to the chagrin of many of the show€™s viewers, The Walking Dead has once again slowed to a meandering crawl, readopting the strategy of alternating episodes between groups of survivors. If the previews for next week are any indication, we may be about to have the two storylines converge again, and let€™s hope so because these group-specific episodes tend to drag. That€™s not to say this wasn€™t an enjoyable episode, because it was. But there wasn€™t a lot of action or story advancement. Consumed was all about the relationship between Daryl and Carol, long moments of awkwardness between two people who have a unique bond amongst the group. There€™s always been a hint of something mildly romantic lingering just below the surface, but neither seems interested in acting on it. Regardless, the two have great chemistry and it adds to all their scenes together. In addition to exploring the Daryl/Carol dynamic, we spent time building the foundation for the upcoming attack on the hospital. It€™s understandable that this must be done, but after what the main characters have gone through with the Governor€™s prison assault and the group from Terminus, a few toy cops don€™t seem to pose much of a threat. Also, from a logical standpoint, there€™s absolutely no reason why, once they€™ve stormed the hospital and rescued Beth, that our group won€™t take up residence there themselves with a less tyrannical approach. But in order for that to happen, we€™re back to the status quo of seasons past, so hopefully we don€™t go that route. Alright, let€™s get to it.
