10 Celebs We Could See In AEW
It's as they always say: it's not about WHAT you know, it's all about WHO you know.
After AEW's 'Manitoba Melee' two weeks ago, it would seem that there are many more celebrities that follow professional wrestling than it seemed at first glance.
A plethora of mainstream stars appeared on the show, endorsing the product and setting the world of social media alight. Vickie Guerrero, Lou Ferrigno and both Jay and Silent Bob appeared in Chris Jericho's 'Bubbly Bunch' segment, which immediately drew thousands of eyes to the Wednesday night show, as Twitter exploded into a supernova of shock and awe.
The success of this segment only provided more evidence of how celebrity appearances can work, when used appropriately. WWE have successfully used this technique since the company's inception, with the likes of Hugh Jackman, Mickey Rourke and Arnold Schwarzenegger being clear examples of it being done right.
If AEW are to appeal to a fresh audience, they will undoubtedly bring more celebrities on to the show, creating more buzz as the weeks and months go by.
With several stars of the company having open relationships with several mainstream celebrities, there are also some surprising names that follow the world of professional wrestling that could be used to draw more interest to the company.
10. Gillian Jacobs
The former 'Britta Perry' from Community and star of Netflix's 'Love', Jacobs has been in the spotlight for around 15 years and is well-known around the world. However, it may not be known that she is an avid fan of Pro Wrestling Guerrilla, as she announced in an interview from 2014.
During the interview, she discussed her passion for PWG, as well as her favourite stars: Kevin Steen, El Generico and Chris Hero. These three men are now known as Kevin Owens, Sami Zayn and Kassius Ohno in WWE, which indicates that Jacobs loosely follows WWE, as well as her local company.
Due to this, Jacobs would be a viable option for AEW to consider as a future celebrity appearance, with many fans all over the world recognising her from her previous stints on television. As a fan herself, the potential is there for a brief appearance in a backstage segment promoting a movie or even showing up in the front row.
