Appearing alongside Jacobs as 'Professor Ian Duncan' in Community, Oliver has found mainstream success with his late-night talk show, 'Last Week Tonight With John Oliver'. On the aforementioned show, he infamously called out WWE for their poor treatment of talent and Vince McMahon's behaviour as CEO.
During the episode, which aired on the 31st of March 2019, Oliver first stated his love of professional wrestling and listed his favourite moments such as Shane McMahon's ludicrous dive from the Hell In A Cell from WrestleMania 32, Mankind and Edge's flaming table spot and Stone Cold's beer truck. However, his rant began to turn to the unfortunate subject of the physical danger of wrestling and the treatment of the superstars.
He tore into Vince McMahon's work and the lack of aid given to the performers. As he attacked the WWE for the lack of care given to its talent, it became clear that he followed wrestling closely throughout his life.
This controversial segment on his show garnered millions of hits online, which makes it one of the most popular non-WWE wrestling clips on the internet.
