The WWE is currently going through a very interesting period, having hired and given major pushes to a lot more independent talent in recent times. The success of CM Punk, Daniel Bryan and Shield members Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose has forced WWE to reassess the way it views independent talent. That WWE have recently signed Samoa Joe and have been rumoured to be interested in AJ Styles, is telling. These are two guys who are strongly associated with companies like TNA and Ring of Honor whom WWE wouldn't have touched a few short years ago. Nowadays WWE would be willing to build the NXT brand around them. Time will tell whether it was the right call to have Kevin Owens go over clean on John Cena or if the other indie darlings make it in the company. NXT flag-waver Triple H is certainly willing to give it a go, though. It's an exciting time for fans but it's hard not to wonder 'what if?'. What if WWE had have adopted this approach several years ago, when it had similar talent on its books and did absolutely nothing with them? Many promising careers were cut short because guys didn't have the 'WWE look' or didn't know how to 'work the WWE way'. Could these guys have succeeded in 2015?
