Every wrestling fan must be familiar with the phrase, 'creative has nothing for you'.
It's almost meme-like at this point when wrestlers reveal in shoot interviews that WWE writers were fresh out of ideas for their characters, and it's even more infuriating when they cite that as one of the reasons why they parted ways with the company. Sometimes though, even a total lack of planning is better than the crud some workers are forced to struggle through.
Legends aren't safe from creative's nonstop game of throwing things out there to see if fans give a toss either. They're arguably in a tougher spot because of their lofty status; writing teams have believed that pairing an icon with literally anybody leads to results since the dawn of grappling time. Sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't, but this harum-scarum methodology often leads to some of the worst feuds of these legendary careers.
The formula goes as thus: Legend A + Wrestler B = fans giving a sh*t automatically. Or, they won't and the sorry rivalries those writers came up with will provide a goldmine of content for lists like this one and regrets from anyone who once said, "what if...".
