10 Major Booking Mistakes WWE Has Already Made With WrestleMania 36

Could this be the worst WrestleMania in recent memory? It's entirely possible...

We're a little over a month away from WrestleMania, and if you're not overly excited about this year's Showcase of the Immortals, you're not alone. With the card starting to take shape and plenty of rumours doing the rounds about what exactly WWE has planned, saying the whole thing feels a little lacklustre definitely feels somewhat appropriate.

Last week's Super ShowDown made some big changes to the company's long rumoured WrestleMania plans, and with SmackDown scrambling to add two marquee matches with little to no build and an Elimination Chamber PPV which feels entirely missable, it's clear that this road to the Show of Shows is full of pot holes... and bad booking!

WrestleMania could surprise us all, but as things stand, some huge mistakes have been made which are pointing to it doing anything but. Instead, it feels like WWE is more concerned with the show's return to Hollywood in 2021, and there are already rumblings about everything from Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson to Ronda Rousey making their in-ring returns there.

Time will tell on that front, but from nonsensical storylines to questionable match choices, and undeniably shocking decisions which should have never been allowed to happen, these are the booking mistakes WWE has already made when it comes to this WrestleMania...

10. They Think Roman Reigns Vs. Goldberg Is A Big Deal

Rumour has it that WWE is in negotiations with various over the top streaming services to host this year's WrestleMania, and that's why they've enlisted Goldberg to defend his newly won Universal Championship in a match they clearly view as being a major draw. Well, it is, but probably only if you grew up watching Nitro on a Monday night.

Goldberg's WWE work has always been somewhat disappointing, and while his rivalry with Brock Lesnar was entertaining, Super ShowDown made it clear that the 53-year-old doesn't have the explosiveness he did in 2016. His Spears looked like they wouldn't knock the wind out of a baby, while that Jackhammer was... well, it was laughable.

If Goldberg turns heel between now and WrestleMania, it could help, but either way, Roman Reigns is likely going to be treated as a hero for dethroning him. That's a win on WWE's part, but this match actually being good would be a miracle (especially if Bill knocks himself silly on the way to the ring or is winded after that long walk down the ramp).

Ultimately, this "Battle of the Spears" is nowhere near as exciting as they think.
