On Monday, June 20, the main event of Battleground was announced - new WWE Champion Dean Ambrose defending the title against Rollins and Reigns in the long-awaited Shield Triple Threat match.

On Tuesday, June 21, Reigns was suspended for 30 days for his first violation of WWE's Wellness Policy.

None of that is a coincidence. WWE's higher-ups knew that Reigns had violated the policy prior to Money in the Bank, hence the clean title loss. At the same time, though, they were invested in keeping Reigns's push alive upon his return - that's why they announced the Battleground main event, which falls just days after the suspension is over.

Everything would be wrapped up in a neat little package - if it weren't for the fact that fan reaction to Reigns is going to be worse than ever. The WWE Universe typically doesn't look well upon stars who are suspended for Wellness Policy violations, and they're all pretty much searching for any reason to tear Reigns down. If you thought his reception was ugly before, just wait until Battleground.

For that reason - and many more - WWE would be best served by turning Reigns heel. It's something they've avoided for a long time, but there's no escaping it any more. Reigns needs to go bad, and he needs to do it as soon as possible.

Here are 10 reasons why Roman Reigns must return as a heel...

10. WWE Can Push Him Without Worrying About Him Flopping

Saying that WWE is invested in pushing Roman Reigns is an understatement. Their single-minded dedication to making him the company's top star has, over the past year and a half, completely turned the WWE Universe against him.

The reaction to Reigns has had an inevitable effect on the way he's been handled. He was supposed to become WWE World Heavyweight Champion at WrestleMania 31, but Seth Rollins got the nod to send the crowd home happy. Reigns finally won the title at Survivor Series, but WWE's decision-makers thought it would make him more endearing to fans if he was robbed of it and had to get it back.

As a result, if Reigns claims the belt at Battleground, he'll have become a four-time champion in the space of eight months.

If WWE were to turn Reigns, they wouldn't have to worry about fans booing him - that's the point. They can have Reigns win as many matches as they want - or hold the WWE Title for as long as they want - and the more jeers he gets, the better. And if the unthinkable should happen and the heel Reigns starts getting cheered, well, that's not nearly as bad as the situation they've got now.
