On 27 June 2019, WWE proudly announced that both Paul Heyman and Eric Bischoff would assume control as 'Executive Directors' of Raw and SmackDown respectively. It was actually Bruce Prichard who had broached the subject with Eric in May to gauge interest, and Bischoff responded in kind by refusing to tell a soul.

Not good pal Hulk Hogan, not podcast co-host Conrad Thompson - nobody aside from his wife and close family knew that he was even talking to WWE. That's why Eric's recent revisit on his '83 Weeks' pod is so essential. It charted his initial communications with Vince McMahon, how things were when he got to WWE and the exact moment he decided to leave.

It's a fascinating tale, one made even more exciting by the timing of this podcast; Bischoff and Thompson recorded their chat around one year to the day (14 July) that Eric arrived in Stamford to start his new journey. That, funnily enough, was almost exactly the date in 2002 that Bischoff made his shocking WWE debut as Raw GM (15 July).
