10 Wrestlers Who Don't Fit WWE's New Era

The New Era may not be to the liking of everyone...

In case you weren't aware, WWE has plunged headfirst into what it is calling the 'New Era'. Even the most cursory glance at the current roster and recent pay-per-view cards will show this, as fresh faces have begun to smash through the barriers set up by the dominant ones over the last decade or so.

Just take a look at the card for Extreme Rules, and the change is clear to see. Five matches are currently set up for the show, and each one is heavily influenced by those who have come up through NXT and developmental. In fact, only three wrestlers on the card (AJ Styles, The Miz and Kofi Kingston) didn't start off in NXT.

For every breath of fresh air, however, others will get left by the wayside. Time waits for no man and this is particularly true in professional wrestling, where individuals are chewed up and spat out with little regard. There are certain to be some casualties of this New Era, some big and some small.

Other individuals simply won't fit into the atmosphere created by this New Era. Whilst a hard-working creative team will always be able to find roles for performers of all types, the WWE's team doesn't exactly come with faith in that regard. As such, there are a whole host of superstars that simply don't fit WWE's New Era.

Here are 10 such names.

10. Kane

Kane has been signed to World Wrestling Entertainment since 1995, and his career has gone in all sorts of directions since then. He started off as an evil dentist, before transitioning into a slot as 'Fake Diesel' before finding a more stable path as the psychopathic younger brother of a dead wrestling mortician. Professional wrestling is weird.

Whilst Kane has been able to tweak his character in the years he has been onscreen, it is clear for all to see that the Big Red Machine's days are numbered. He is assured of a place in the Hall of Fame and will hopefully get a respectful send-off, but there is no place in the New Era for the Devil's Favourite Demon.

Ideally, Kane will get one last showcase moment and will ride off into the sunset afterwards. If he is still participating in pay-per-view main events at the end of 2016, the New Era has failed.
