10 Wrestling Facts We Didn't Know Last Week (July 28)
It turns out Brock Lesnar is more fond of punching heads than planning matches...
Imagine how cool it would've been to see the legendary Shawn Michaels return to face AJ Styles back at the Royal Rumble. Any HBK comeback was never realistically going to happen due to Shawn's own determination to stay retired, but seeing the icon share the ring with AJ would be considered a true dream match.
According to Styles though, the then-WWE Champ believed there was a chance at the time Michaels would relent and return to the ring. AJ was surprised to learn that Shawn wasn't interested, not because of the proposed opponent but more due to WWE's financial strength.
That story and another fact about AJ's upcoming feud with Shinsuke Nakamura join others involving the likes of Brock Lesnar, Braun Strowman and Asuka. You won't believe what the Wrestling Observer are saying about Strowman's life away from the ring.
Let's look at the facts...
10. The Hardy Boyz Forked Out $2,500 For The Final Deletion Set
WWE won't be able to use the 'Broken' gimmicks for Matt and Jeff Hardy until legal issues with Anthem Sports and Entertainment are sorted out. The battle rages on over who really owns the rights to the characters, but Matt posted on Twitter this week that he and his sibling personally forked out their own cash to make the gimmick work.
Along with Matt's wife Reby, The Hardyz spent a reported $2,500 of their own money to construct the 'Final Deletion' set. That's not all, because the family also took 4 days to put the set together and get everything ready for one of wrestling's most bizarre matches. Matt was very outspoken on Twitter about the idea being his own vision and taking place on his property.
If it's true The Hardyz spent $2,500 and that TNA didn't fund the project, then opinions may change over who should own the 'Broken' concept. Matt and Jeff are hardly strapped for cash, but it's hard to envision any performer being asked to pay out of their own pocket for a match in WWE.
