Hardly anyone behind the scenes in WWE at ground level knew beforehand that The Great Khali would march back into the company during Battleground's main event. Jerry Lawler lifted the lid on this news via his Dinner With The King podcast, claiming that he didn't have a clue Khali was even in the building.

Although it's not uncommon for WWE to keep things close to their chest when a major star is returning, it is rather strange to think Khali was kept as such a big secret. There's not exactly a clamour for more Khali matches in WWE from fans, but the company were apparently desperate to stop news from leaking out before the giant limped down the aisle.

Lawler said that neither he nor broadcast colleague Renee Young were in the know, and the legend doubts many backstage were clued in to Khali's comeback moment at all. Still, secret or not, let's hope WWE don't think the surprise should lead to a full-time in-ring run.
