Bret Hart once quipped that the Undertaker 'could make a silk purse out of a sow's ear.' This was a reference to his incredible ring work, amazing gimmick commitment, and overall ring presence. Many times during of his career, the Undertaker has been assigned the dubious task of working with a new or rising star in WWE in the hopes of elevating them to new heights. While this has worked on several occasions, there are also just as many instances that prove that the Undertaker isn't always the miracle worker he's believed to be. There have been several notable cases where the Undertaker was assigned feuds with certain stars, with the general idea being that, because it's the Undertaker, those wrestlers would be elevated to a higher level just by sharing the ring with him. Sadly this didn't always work out as planned, as those wrestlers couldn't make the best out of a perfect situation to get over by working with the Deadman, and 'Taker himself ended up wasting his time. This article will highlight ten people that WWE tried to make into greater stars by pairing them with the Undertaker, in the hopes that this winning formula (which had worked on so many occasions in the past), would lead WWE to finding their next big star, but failed. These ten individuals either challenged the Undertaker or teamed with him for a time, and unfortunately, none of them became as big of a star as WWE had hoped in the first place.
