5 Ups And 6 Downs From WWE Extreme Rules 2020
Poor finishes drag down show, but at least it's a short PPV.
It’s tough to categorize Extreme Rules as anything other than a disappointment. Sunday night’s PPV failed to deliver one of its title matches and was littered with poor finishes and unsatisfying results.
You basically turned off the PPV wondering what happened rather than reflecting on a really good, entertaining and satisfying program. No one was expecting to see a ripped-out eyeball, but what we did get after weeks of promises, was a hugely disappointing result. And that’s never a good sign, though it’s far from the first time that’s happened.
Once again, the women carried a large chunk of the program well, delivering two solid matches, one with a very messy finish that was really overdone. And once again, WWE dipped its toe into cinematic matches, which once again missed the mark. At this point, the company has used up its goodwill from the Boneyard Match and they’re just desperately trying to capture lightning in a bottle twice.
However, there was some decent wrestling here to enjoy, and the event itself was pretty short and easy to get through, so that’s always a positive thing.
