SummerSlam has come to pass featuring Brock Lesnars dominating victory over John Cena in the main event contest for the coveted WWE World Heavyweight Championship. However, WWE's biggest event of the summer wasn't the only wrestling pay-per-view to take place on August 17th. Nor was it the only one to provide groundbreaking headlines. AAA -- Asistencia Asesoría y Administración -- held their annual Triplemania event at the Arena Ciudad de Mexico in Mexico City. It was the 22nd incarnation of the lucha libre extravaganza which is AAA's largest event of the year. AAA and its stars did what they do best -- providing high-flying and high-paced in-ring action. However, it was what bookended the event that had everyone talking. Recently released WWE superstar, Alberto Del Rio kicked off the show. Now known as El Patron, the Mexican superstar was accompanied to the ring by his father Dos Caras -- a legend in the world of lucha libre. The former Del Rio entered the ring and soon began to cut a scathing promo against the WWE. El Patron stated that he had encountered a monster during his time in the WWE and that was racism. He further said that WWE could take away his job, but they could not take away his dignity. The other big news to come out of Triplemania was the appearance of Rey Mysterio -- or as he's known in Mexico, Rey Misterio Jr. Mysterio appeared after the main event, via a pre-recorded video. Rey briefly spoke of his beginnings with AAA before declaring that he would see them soon. Mysterio is currently in the midst of a contract dispute with WWE. The Mexican superstars deal was reportedly up some months ago, and Mysterio decided not to resign with the promotion. However, WWE enacted a clause in the masked competitor's contract that allowed them to extend the deal without his consent, because they feel they are owed time following Mysterio's long absence due to injury. Reportedly, Rey has not been cashing any checks sent to him by WWE as he continues to attempt to find a way out of his deal. While Alberto Del Rio was released from his contract, he has defied the company with his appearance in AAA, potentially putting him in violation of his no-compete clause. Furthermore, Mysterios actions are especially off-putting for WWE as his appearance at Triplemania came while he is still under contract to the company. There have already been some harsh repercussions for both superstars and there could be more on the way. Join us as we take a look at the consequences and implications stemming from Alberto Del Rio and Rey Mysterios acts of defiance.
