7 Implications Of Alberto Del Rio And Rey Mysterio Defying WWE

7. Lost Two €œGo To€ Performers

WWE is often derided for its lack of emphasis on in-ring competition. While the company does seem to favor over-the-top storylines and ridiculous backstage segments at times, there€™s no doubt that -- as much as they don€™t like to admit -- the WWE is still a professional wrestling company. With that, they are always in need of new top-level talents, as well as solid performers who can be thrown in with nearly anyone and still go. While Mysterio is older and past his prime, he was one of the few guys WWE could go to for a solid performance at any time. The high-flying superstar has suffered countless injuries over the years and has had numerous operations -- all of which have slowed him down considerably. However, Rey was able to adapt his style to suit his health. Del Rio, on the other hand, is still relatively young and has not suffered the injuries Mysterio has. Alberto possesses a wealth of wrestling knowledge due to his family€™s longevity and legacy within the business. Furthermore, he has the wrestling prowess to get it done in the ring with nearly any superstar on any given night. With Del Rio€™s departure, WWE has lost a solid performer who was capable of delivering good or great bouts with lesser talents -- aiding them in delivering noteworthy performances. That€™s the name of the game in wrestling. It€™s often less about how good you look and more about how good you can make your opponent look. Del Rio had the skill and natural talent to do such a thing. Likewise, Mysterio added marquee value to any event he was at. Now, with Del Rio gone and Mysterio possibly following close behind, the WWE is down not only two wrestlers, but is missing two €œgo to€ talents, ready and able for nearly any situation.
