7 Things We Learned From WWE Untold: Shane McMahon & Kurt Angle

These days, Shane McMahon gets it rough from wrestling fans who believe he's the beneficiary of an undeserved push. His 'Best In The World' character feels like a colossal rib, one taken too far by a company experiencing creative burnout and in dire need of stars to pin their hopes on.
Back in 2001 however, Shane was a real 'Boy Wonder'. His matches came with added excitement, because fans knew they'd see some big bumps, impressive stunts and craziness to offset the fact that he wasn't actually a full-time wrestler. Arguably his most impressive match came against Kurt Angle at that year's King Of The Ring pay-per-view.
WWE's Untold series on the Network took an in-depth look at this brawl, examining how it came about, who helped build each sequence and why Vince McMahon was spitting mad at his son and Angle for their reckless bloodletting. It's not quite as good as prior Untold episodes on WCW or ECW, but the backstage stories make it worthwhile.
Just try to ignore WWE's unnecessary blurring of the lines between reality and storyline at inopportune moments. They love a bit of that...
