It's often forgotten that Kurt Angle actually worked three times on that King Of The Ring 2001 pay-per-view. First, he bested Christian in the semis before losing to Edge (thanks to Shane McMahon) at the final hurdle. By the time he wrestled in the 'Street Fight' against McMahon, Kurt had already put in almost 20 minutes of ring time.

He barely planned any of it.

Angle's sole focus was on ensuring that he and Shane stole the show, so he didn't plan out much for his matches against Christian and Edge. Watching back, you wouldn't know it, but that's how good Kurt was in-ring. Come the McMahon brawl, Angle was feeling good, because he felt he'd knocked it out the park with the tournament bouts. The pressure was off.

In the mini-doc, Angle said that he'd have still viewed KOTR as a good night even if the 'Street Fight' ended up sucking hard. He was very pleased with how he ad-libbed the matches against his old running buddies in the tourney.
