7 Ups And 10 Downs From WWE Fastlane 2019
Good matches, contrived outcomes, and McMahons, naturally.
Welcome to the most pointless PPV on the WWE calendar, the last PPV before WrestleMania.
You would think that WWE could figure out a way to make Fastlane more appealing and important, but let’s face it: the vast majority of the card wasn’t booked until 12 days out from the event. Even then, the card wasn’t final, as we saw, and the PPV itself turned into an attempt to cram a dozen angles into it just four weeks before WrestleMania. (Bear in mind that only three matches are confirmed for Mania as of right now, though several are strongly rumored or developing.)
Thus, Fastlane was a mess of bad-to-excellent wrestling, overbooking, post-match angles, and of course, McMahons. It certainly wasn’t boring, and it wasn’t uneventful. But it’s funny that a PPV called Fastlane had so many twists and turns to it.
We’ll have to see how things shake out this week on Raw and SmackDown, but there still are several question marks out there. We saw a lot Sunday night, but even the negatives could be overlooked or forgotten if they lead to a really solid Mania card.
For now though, we’ll critique what we saw at the uneven Fastlane. Let’s get to it…
