7 Ways WWE Can Salvage Sheamus

Introducing the K.I.S.S system (Keep It Simple, Sheamus).

Oh Sheamus, poor poor Sheamus. In 2012, he was ranked number 5 on the PWI 500, behind CM Punk, Bobby Roode, John Cena and Daniel Bryan. Last year, just three years later, Rolling Stone voted him as the 'Lame Duck of the Year'.

You can't really argue with that title either, as last year Sheamus had one of the worst years in recent memory from a booking standpoint.

He returned, turned heel and immediately set about entering a number of poor stories that saw him lose often. Inexplicably he then won the Money in the Bank briefcase and proceeded to lose some more. Because WWE loves a 'shock' he successfully cashed in the briefcase against Roman Reigns, only to yes, lose some more. Sheamus lost a lot last year, winning mostly in 50/50 booking situations or handicap matches.

All of which means that in July 2016, Sheamus is one of the stalest individuals on the entire roster. This is objectively quite depressing, as the Irishman is secretly one of the best performers on the entire roster when it comes to what happens in the ring, and some of the most hard-hitting matches in recent memory have involved the Celtic Warrior. Who doesn't love seeing Sheamus and Cesaro smash seven shades out of each other?

So how can WWE salvage Sheamus? Here are seven ways to breathe new life into The Lad...

7. A Long, Relaxing Holiday

I'll start with the least interesting option available to World Wrestling Entertainment, but undoubtedly the easiest.

Sheamus only returned to our screens in 2015, but in the year since he has been driven somewhat into the ground in the most WWE way possible, by consistently losing matches and facing the same opponents time and time again. For instance, he has faced Zack Ryder four times on WWE TV since the beginning of June.

Maybe the time has come to give Sheamus some time off. Not time off getting surgery, not time off rehabbing injuries, just some pure unadulterated time off. Let him go and recharge his batteries, film some more movies, regain his zest for professional wrestling.

Wrestling fans love themselves a return (unless the person returning is Grandmaster Sexay of course), so giving Sheamus a few months off in order to return as a surprise entrant into the 2017 Royal Rumble is a fairly easy way to renew interest in the Celtic Warrior.
