It was a face turn that came out of nowhere, but it worked perfectly. Mark Henry was on a rampage, destroying men left, right and centre, as name after name entered into his Hall of Pain (copyright Brodus Clay). He had just destroyed the legendary Bobby Howard on an episode of SmackDown and was going to break the kid's ankle, before Teddy Long skipped down to ringside to stop him.

Rather than making a tag team match featuring Henry and the chair going up against Howard and a mystery partner, Teddy said no one wanted to fight the World's Strongest Man. Teddy was wrong, as then-heel Sheamus strolled down to ringside, took the mic from Teddy, and famously proclaimed 'I'll fight him'.

It was simple, but by gum was it effective. Sheamus went from joke King of the Ring to tough, fighting Irishman in the blink of an eye. A similar face turn could do wonders for the Celtic Warrior in 2016.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
