8 Reasons Friday's WWE Releases Were Justified
There are good reasons to say goodbye to all 8 superstars.
World Wrestling Entertainment has a tendency to do a little bit of spring cleaning once WrestleMania is done with. The company has a huge roster, embellished today by the prominence of NXT, and more and more people find themselves sat on the sides with nothing to do.
Spring cleaning did indeed come to WWE this past Friday, as eight talents found themselves on the wrong side of phone-call and wished well int their future endeavours.
Reaction to the releases varied from disinterested to appalled, with many lamenting the loss of a number of those released. 'Why couldn't they do anything with ___?!', was the cry of many a fan this weekend.
Well, they couldn't, and they didn't.
No matter how much of a fan you are of those lost, there are fairly clear reasons as to why each individual was let go on Friday. Some of these are easy to swallow, while others are a little harder to take, but each can be justified.
The harsh truth is that none of the releases from Friday were particularly surprising. It is never pleasant to see someone lose their job, but if rumours of releases were rampant all eight of these would have been apprehensively answering the phone.
Here are justifications for each release.
8. Cameron
Of the eight wrestlers released on Friday, the announcement of Cameron's departrue was without doubt the least surprising.
The 'star' of 'Total Divas' was already on thin-ice after speaking out in support of Ryback, as well as posting a lengthy post regarding cyber-bullying. Even if these things had not happened, Cameron would still most likely have been on the chopping block.
By this point, there was little reason for Cameron to be on the roster. Since the break-up of the Funkadactyls she has barely improved between the ropes, and has given the audience little outside of embarrassed laughs.
As awful as it may be, Cameron was the Marty Jannetty of the Funkadactyls.
With developmental talent acting as enhancement on NXT and the main roster females not getting enough time to justify dead weight, Cameron's release was something of a no-brainer.
