8 Ups & 4 Downs From AEW Dynamite (May 13)
The Assassination of Vanguard 1 by the Coward Chris Jericho.
Double Or Nothing 2020 is just nine days away.
The 23 May pay-per-view has crept up quickly, with AEW accelerating through the matchmaking process over the past couple of shows. Last night's episode of Dynamite brought four new additions to the card on relatively short notice. What could have been a blockbuster show hasn't had Revolution's careful, considerate build, though the rushed tapings enforced by the Empty Arena at least partially explain this.
Besides, this promotion has earned enough trust to assume that everything will be alright on the night.
The biggest selling points here were a tag pitting Kenny Omega and Matt Hardy against Pride and Powerful after Santana and Ortiz's involvement in last week's main event, a follow-up on Lance Archer and Jake 'The Snake' Roberts' humiliation of Brandi Rhodes, and MJF's return to the squared circle. Elsewhere, Pineapple Pete stepped up to face Chris Jericho, Best Friends met Jungle Express in a Tag Team Title eliminator, and Penelope Ford, Hikaru Shida, Britt Baker, and Kris Statlander battled for the right to challenge Nyla Rose.
A better show than last week's, though it took overcoming a dysfunctional opening 45 minutes to get there. Let's light the fuse...
