8 Ups & 4 Downs From AEW Dynamite (May 13)

Downs...

4. A Sloppy Opener

Dynamite's opening match, Best Friends vs. Jurassic Express, was too chaotic for its own good.

This was the kind of AEW tag that squeezes the critics' hair-trigger not because it was a spotfest, but because it was all over the place. It was a Tornado Tag that wasn't. Referee Aubrey Edwards couldn't enforce the rules in a bout that saw all four men involved for much of it, though this wasn't even the biggest problem: the sloppiness was.

Best Friends vs. Jurassic Express was the first of two Dynamite bouts to suffer from botches and clear timing issues. It was the lesser of the two, though these clunky moments hindered what could (and should) have been a better clash - given the participants.

Rey Fenix flew out of nowhere to smash Orange Cassidy on the ramp, setting up next week's singles match. MJF then got his hands on Jungle Boy, putting him face-first into the post and with Luchasaurus down, Chuck Taylor nailed his Awful Waffle on Jack Perry for the win. Wardlow rag-dolling Marko Stunt after the bell was a hoot. The rest of this? A misfire.
