8 WWE Elimination Chamber Statistics You Need To Know
The basics behind one of WWE's signature matches.
Despite almost vanishing from the WWE landscape a few years ago, the Elimination Chamber is at the center of WWE's annual Road to WrestleMania once again.
Sunday's PPV will offer us two chamber matches, both with huge ramifications for Mania: a #1 contender for the WWE Universal Championship, and in a history-making contest, the woman who will defend the Raw Women's Championship.
As with many WWE signature matches, there is a pretty good collection of information about past bouts and past participants gathered throughout the years. After all, the Elimination Chamber is 5 years old with 20 matches under its belt. We've seen some historic and memorable moments inside the chamber, and as the years pass, it continues to build up its history.
But as WWE likes to say, it’s all about the numbers. And there are some statistics and numbers every fan should know before the PPV.
So let's find out the basics about the Elimination Chamber: who's been successful, who's fallen short, what's happened inside the steel chamber, and what oddities have cropped up. Let’s get to it…
8. What’s On The Line
Out of 20 Elimination Chamber matches during the past 15 years, a title has been on the line in 16 matches, with four matches held to determine a #1 contender for a world title at WrestleMania.
No title has been defended more inside the Elimination Chamber than the now-defunct World Heavyweight Championship, being contested in eight of the 16 matches. Part of that is due to the title being exclusive to Raw in the early years when the Elimination Chamber was a Raw-only PPV.
The WWE Championship will close in on that number this month, as it has been defended five times, making Sunday’s bout the sixth occasion. Three titles have been defended once each inside the chamber: the Intercontinental Championship, the WWE Tag Team Championship and the ECW Championship.
