Backstage Note On Scrapped WWE Promo On Big E's Broken Neck
Here's what WWE originally had planned for Ridge Holland on last week's SmackDown.
A segment featuring Ridge Holland talking about Big E's recent injury was in the works for last week's episode of WWE SmackDown at one point, reports Fightful Select.
Said promo would have taken place on week after the New Day powerhouse suffered a broken neck while wrestling on the blue brand's 12 March episode. Big E incurred the injury while taking a belly-to-belly overhead suplex from Holland on the outside, taking a nasty landing on his head in the process.
There is currently no word on why, exactly, the Holland segment didn't make SmackDown on 19 March. Ridge was active elsewhere on the night, defeating E's New Day stablemate, Kofi Kingston, after interference from allies Sheamus and Butch.
Big E has posted multiple videos updating fans on his condition since the 12 March accident, with one of the most notable showing him back on his feet, walking around his neighbourhood less than a week after suffering an injury that could have led to paralysis.
The 36-year-old fractured his C1 and C6 vertebrae while taking the belly-to-belly suplex. While E won't require surgery, his pro wrestling career may be in jeopardy if the C1 fracture doesn't completely heal.
