Former WWE Champion Batista looked delighted to return to the company at SmackDown 1000, having spent much of 2018 ruing the apparent dissolution of a proposed singles bout between him and Triple H.

That clash may now be on the horizon. It was heavily teased during the well received Evolution segment at SD1000, with 'The Animal' pointing out his old mentor's inability to beat him, before embracing his teammates to close the segment.

Whether or not this bout actually comes to fruition remains to be seen, but the speculation has only amplified in the past 24 hours, particularly with MCM Comic Con announcing Batista's decision to pull out of their upcoming London event (26-28 October) yesterday:-

"Unforeseen scheduling commitments" tells us that something has come up, which could mean further WWE dates. With the Triple H tease on SmackDown, the natural assumption is that the company will now continue building towards a potential clash, though this is entirely speculative and should be taken with a hint of cynicism.

Raw tapes on 29 October. Batista could conceivably have made this show and Comic Con, but after Tuesday's performance, few will complain if Big Dave does return for one last part-time run.
