MJF and CM Punk's latest war of words saw the duo take a couple of potshots at WWE (and specifically WrestleMania) on last night's episode of Dynamite.

The back-and-forth went down after MJF was supposed to face Shawn Dean in a squash match. Punk marched down to the ring as soon as the bell had rung, attacking Dean to spark a disqualification, meaning MJF technically started 2022 on a loss.

Trading jabs at each other, the duo eventually touched on WWE, with MJF saying that Punk comparing himself to Roddy Piper was false, as unlike Punk, Piper was good enough to headline a WrestleMania. MJF then teased his future, saying that he might end up main-eventing a 'Mania himself if AEW doesn't start showing him due respect.

In response, Punk dropped the following:-

"If you think the grass is much greener on the other side, be my guest. Go ahead, leave, main-event night four of a buy-one-get-one-free extravaganza and then get released faster than you last hit the sack. When you come back, I'll still be here and that *ss-kicking will be waiting for you."

MJF, who has been avoiding directly facing Punk for weeks, dodged the veteran's challenge, saying Punk will face Wardlow rather than himself on next week's Dynamite.

The WWE-related lines understandably drew some of the strongest crowd reactions on the whole show. They coincided with the promotion's latest round of releases, with NXT and the Performance Center hit hard on Wednesday.
