Major Update On Jim Ross' AEW Future
The greatest to ever do it, Jim Ross has provided a major update on his AEW future.
Having recently signed a new one-year AEW contract, Jim Ross believes that he's "more than likely" in the final year of his legendary career.
Largely viewed as the greatest to ever do it, Jim addressed his future during the latest episode of his fantastic Grillin' JR podcast, as picked up on by WrestlingNews.co.
As Ross explained when asked whether this contract will mark the end of the line for his time at the announce desk:
"I think so. It's realistic to think that way. I'm 72 years old. I feel good, I'm getting healthier every day, which is great, but I can think realistically this could be my last year, and more than likely will. That's to be determined. That's between me, my health, and Tony Khan seeing how much to utilise me. Right now, it's a good plan because I'm essentially working, as I understand it, pay-per-views only, so that's where you'll find me once a month as the plan goes as we speak. We all know that in pro wrestling things can change on the fly and things can be different, but I don't think so on this occasion."
Before this latest contract, Jim Ross' previous AEW deal expired on 14 February. While not a direct extension to his existing contract, good ol' JR signed a new one-year agreement with the company which, most notably, allowed him to be on the call for Sting's retirement match at AEW Revolution.
From here on out, it appears that Jim will be called upon for AEW PPVs, and if his recent work is anything to go by, Ross still has plenty to bring to the table. Simply put, the wrestling world is forever a better place when it has Jim Ross in it.
