New Details On Davey Boy Smith Jr. Returning To WWE
Here's what WWE may have planned for the former Harry Smith, should he return.
Davey Boy Smith Jr. could be part of the bumper talent intake WWE is set to officially announce over the coming weeks.
This is according to Dave Meltzer, who writes in this week's Wrestling Observer Newsletter that while nothing has been confirmed yet, Smith Jr. has a "good shot" at signing.
While there's currently no word on which brand WWE would assign him to, Meltzer states that NXT UK had been mentioned more times than any other. He notes, however, that Smith Jr. could realistically end up anywhere.
Davey Boy commented on a potential return in an interview with Metro UK last week, confirming talks and claiming NXT UK's door was closed due to the ongoing global health crisis. The 35-year-old currently lives in Tampa, Florida, so travel restrictions must be accounted for.
The son of the legendary 'British Bulldog' Davey Boy Smith, Smith Jr. was previously with WWE from 2006 to 2011, competing as DH and Harry Smith. He was let go from the company several months after being removed from television following the dissolution of his partnership with Tyson Kidd.
A March 2020 guest on Corey Graves' After the Bell podcast, Smith Jr. was supposed to induct his father into the WWE Hall of Fame last year, until WWE scrapped the ceremony at the pandemic's onset.
