New Details On Santana Garrett's WWE Release
A backstage update on Santana Garrett, who was cut by WWE last week.
Santana Garrett's WWE release didn't come as a surprise to people within the company, reports Fightful Select.
This was down to the former NXT wrestler's lack of use on the main roster. While Garrett had technically been part of the main roster since a phantom call-up sometime last year, she barely made television, working only the 2021 women's Royal Rumble match.
Garrett also made singular appearances on Raw and Main Event in April 2020, though this may have come before her call-up.
The report also notes that Garrett had been the subject of several storyline pitches prior to her departure, one of which involved a stable with Vanessa Borne and Chelsea Green, which almost made television before it was downed.
Garrett and Green, who was released by WWE on 15 April, had taken it upon themselves to show up at SmackDown tapings several months ago. The report notes that Santana hadn't been around the locker-room much since then.
If bound by a standard 90-day non-compete clause, Garrett will be free to sign with other wrestling promotions from 31 August. She was released alongside Braun Strowman, Aleister Black, and more last week.
