Santana Garrett received a "phantom" call up from NXT to the WWE main roster earlier this year, according to a new report from Fightful Select.

While Garrett worked a one-off Raw spot (jobbing to Bianca Belair) back in April, the 32-year-old was never formally introduced on the main roster, vanishing from television over the summer. Her last televised appearance was a squash defeat to Mercedes Martinez on NXT's Great American Bash special in July.

Garrett currently finds herself in a similar position to Vanessa Borne and Chelsea Green, who are trapped in WWE purgatory and not on TV at the moment.

The creative team reportedly fielded a number of pitches for Garrett, including having her team with another wrestler. All of these were seemingly left on the cutting room floor.

WWE signed Garrett to a full-time deal in August 2019. She had been used as a freelance enhancement talent on several occasions prior to that, with her first appearance going down all the way back in September 2013. Garrett has also worked for TNA, Stardom, and WOW, along with a multitude of independent promotions, throughout her 11-year career as a professional wrestler.
