Potential SPOILERS On WWE's Plans For 'Stone Cold' Steve Austin
Here's what WWE may have planned for Steve Austin's impending return...
'Stone Cold' Steve Austin appears to be on the verge of an unexpected WWE return, with a Fightful report preceding multiple teases on WWE television last week, seemingly to establish Kevin Owens as the Texan's comeback opponent.
The duo are expected to fight at WrestleMania 38. Meanwhile, Owens remains involved in a tag team storyline with Seth Rollins, though this is due to be wrapped before then.
This is according to Dave Meltzer. Speaking on the latest episode of Wrestling Observer Radio, WWE currently plans on concluding the Rollins/Owens alliance prior to 'Mania, freeing KO up to face Austin, whom he has been needling by disrespecting his home state, Texas, on recent episodes of Raw.
Rollins and Owens currently have a Raw Tag Team Title shot in their back pockets, having earned that by defeating RKBro on this week's Raw. They'll punch that ticket in a Triple Threat match featuring Riddle and Randy Orton, as well as champions Alpha Academy, on the red brand's 7 March episode.
WWE is yet to formally announce anything regarding Austin's comeback. 'Stone Cold' hasn't wrestled since 2003, when he lost to The Rock at WrestleMania 19.
