Impact Wrestling recently reached out to Kurt Angle about possibly returning at October's Bound for Glory 2020 pay-per-view, reports PWInsider's Mike Johnson.

There's no word on what, exactly, Angle would have done at the show, or whether his return would have been a one-off or led to a more regular role, though it is noted that the talks stalled. The reasons behind this are unclear.

Angle was one of the dozens of WWE employees and independent contractors either released or furloughed by the promotion during its mass cuts back in April. WWE offered him a position managing NXT call-up Matt Riddle on SmackDown, but the former Olympian turned this down, claiming he was focused on activities away from the squared circle.

Though Kurt is best known for his work in WWE, he is as much an Impact/TNA guy as a Stamford guy. The 51-year-old was with the company from 2006 to 2016, becoming one of the few WWE crossovers to have a strong, positive influence on the promotion's business, winning the TNA World Heavyweight Championship on six separate occasions.

2013 saw Angle become the second wrestler to join the Impact Hall Of Fame, joining fellow legend Sting.
