NXT referee Drake Wuertz has been hit by a number of WWE penalties over the past few months.

Fightful Select reports that the former deathmatch wrestler has lost his spot as NXT's head official to Darryl Sharma, which was originally speculated earlier this month. In addition, Wuertz was passed up for the job of timing the black and gold brand's matches, with the returning Scott Armstrong getting that job instead (Road Dogg played a role in Armstrong's return from furlough) and the back-up timing position going to DA Brewer as well.

Per the write-up, WWE actually formally or informally suspended Drake earlier this year and prevented him from coming to the Capitol Wrestling Center for an undisclosed time period.

Last year saw WWE officials finding and reading journalist David Bixenspan's exposé on Wuertz's very vocal, very public support for radical conspiracy theories, including QAnon. Fightful states that those who read the report were "horrified" by its content.

Bixenspan tweeted a clip of Wuertz calling into a Seminole County Board of County Commissioners meeting earlier this week, spreading conspiracy theories while clad in an NXT-branded shirt:-

This was done while Wuertz was backstage at NXT this week. Per Fightful's sources, Wuertz has toned down the mannerisms that resulted in him getting "substantial heat" in the first place, but people within NXT are surprised that he's still with the company.
