Liv Morgan's 2020 Survivor Series appearance as part of Team SmackDown was cause for celebration, even if the brand couldn't pick up the win and she supposedly wasn't even set to star just a few weeks earlier.

Morgan made it on to the blue team with a victory over Natalya that was apparently never meant to be. The qualifying match featured a debuting Chelsea Green, but an unfortunate wrist injury midway through put the former NXT star back on the shelf. Morgan's win got her on to the show alongside Riott Squad tag partner Ruby Riott, Bianca Belair, Natalya and self-appointed team captain Bayley.

In the match itself, she showed terrific poise when given brief spotlight to do so. An uneven match was hauled over the line by sequences such as Morgan's gritty fire-up, but the highs - as has often been the case with her in-ring exploits - came with baked-in lows. In a spirited performance that proved memorable in spite of the setting and stakes, the match itself wasn't structured for her benefit. The exact same could be said for her gutsy display in 2020's Elimination Chamber. Morgan was tenacious in the extreme before Shayna Baszler bulldozed her like all the rest. It's perhaps why she's become quietly relied upon when main stage matches come calling.

Survivor Series was the third 'Big Four' show she'd worked in 2020, and came just under a year removed from a return from the Sports Entertainment abyss that would have almost certainly sunk a less resilient performer...
