Where The Shield's Latest WWE Reunion Is Heading
Here to stay, or a short-term fling?
Roman Reigns, Dean Ambrose, and Seth Rollins reunited as The Shield this week, triple powerbombing Braun Strowman through the announce table in a memorable Monday Night Raw conclusion.
'The Monster Among Men' had attempted to cash-in his Money In The Bank briefcase on Reigns. The old Shield theme hit, and out marched Rollins and Ambrose in SWAT gear, saving their ally's title reign just 24 hours after it had began.
According to Dave Meltzer in this week's Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the trio now look set to pick up where last year's halted reunion left off, and embark upon the kind of run they should've enjoyed before illness and injury struck them down.
Reigns contracted mumps prior to TLC 2017, forcing Kurt Angle to step in as his pay-per-view replacement. The Shield reconvened soon after, wrestling The New Day in an enjoyable Survivor Series trios bout, but it all ground to a halt when Ambrose was sidelined by a triceps injury a few weeks later.
Meltzer notes that this Shield run will eventually result in a break-up rivalry with Reigns, possibly spurred by an Ambrose heel turn, but for now, the trio will remain a united front.
