Shayna Baszler has opened up about her critically-panned 'MMA Rules' match vs. Ronda Rousey at WWE SummerSlam 2023 in August, and it seems she's just as frosty on the bout as most fans.

The WWE star told Bleav In Pro Wrestling on YouTube that there was too much confusion about the rules going in. Shayna also revealed that she wanted rounds to be implemented, but isn't sure creative wanted that because of the ongoing Heritage Cup content on NXT.

Both Baszler and Rousey also fancied working inside a cage, but WWE higher-ups argued against that because SummerSlam was taking place in a stadium. Of course, that didn't stop the Hell In A Cell match between Edge and Finn Bálor from happening at WrestleMania 39.

Shayna then went on to describe some of the subtle differences between pure MMA rules and the ruleset UFC currently uses, but her biggest gripe with the whole ordeal is that WWE failed to properly explain what fans were going to see.

She reckons things would've been much better had the referee been allowed to get on the mic and talk people through the rules.

Objectively, the match was a miserable failure for all involved.
