Hiring: Creative Thinker / Video Presenter & Voice-Over Artist
Role: Creative Thinker / Video Presenter & Voice-Over Artist
Channels Hiring For: WhatCulture Main, WhatCulture Comics, WhatCulture Gaming, WhatCulture Horror - ONLY
Secondary Role: If you are applying to work 'In-Office', you must have the ability to write articles, and/or edit videos.
With over 8 MILLION subscribers across our WWE, Gaming, Film/TV and Comics channels, WhatCulture has grown into one of the UK's biggest YouTube brands. And now we're on the hunt for a new Video Presenter & Voice-Over Artist to help take us even further.
With roles available both on a freelance basis from home, and at our headquarters in the North East of England (Gateshead), we want to hear from you!
Creativity - For this role, you MUST be a CREATIVE THINKER. We're in need of someone who can come up with great ideas for our list-based content, and have the ability to write your own scripts.
Knowledge - For this role, you MUST have a substantial knowledge base of the content seen on the channel you applying for (see above for which channels we're currently accepting applications for).
Confidence in both yourself and your ability - Not just because shrinking violets make for terrible videos, but because you may be faced with shoots in public situations or busy studios.
Uniqueness - We want characters and people that stand out. It's been the distinctive charm of our current presenters that has helped set the channel apart, and that's something we're keen to build on.
Some experience of web-based media - Understanding the intricacies of digital presenting will stand you in good stead.
A lot of ideas - Our channels currently run regular and original programming, and we're hoping to add a number of new shows and concepts in the near future.
Be open to collaboration - Be it with established, or up-and-coming video personalities, being open to collaboration is a must.
As with any job, being well organised is vital, and with being involved in an extension of our existing website a good writing style is also important. You'll occasionally be tasked with restructuring some of our existing written content into an audio or video package, so understanding what will and won't translate from the page (and how to put it in your own style) is key.
If you're unfamiliar, you can see the kind of content we do here, here and here.
Email an up-to-date CV and a covering letter to firstname.lastname@example.org.
The subject of your email MUST include the position AND the channel(s) you are applying for!
It is strongly recommended that you record an original voice-over AND a to-camera recording sample based on the style of content that we produce. Please select an article from https://whatculture.com/ and record the intro along with one or two entries. After you've recorded, upload the recording to YouTube (unlisted), Google Drive, or Vimeo, and include the link within your email. This won't ever be shared outside of WhatCulture.
As this position also requires a creative mind, we would also hope to see you pitch a few article/video titles that you think will work on the channel(s).
We're also keen to know your interests and how you see yourself fitting in to the WhatCulture brand.
Unfortunately, due to the sheer number of applications we receive, we are unable to get back to unsuccessful applicants.
