10 Amazing Comic Book Covers DC Wants You To Remember
10. Watchmen #1
Watchmen has long been considered to be one of the best comic book graphic novels of all time. The book won the Hugo and Eisner awards in 1988 hand has since been adapted into animation, a feature film, and a live action series set for release in 2019.
The cover illustrated by Dave Gibbons has gone one to become one of the most iconic covers of all time. The rather simple image of a Smiley Face with blood dripping down has become the symbol for the Watchmen franchise.
Not only was this an impressive book with a memorable cover, the art itself is coveted by collectors. The cover drawing was sold at auction in 2013 for a rather hefty price.
An anonymous buyer purchased the piece for $155,350! Gibbons sold the books in their entirety years ago for far less than what they are making these days at auction. Despite losing out on a ton of cash, Gibbons' work will forever go down in the annals of comic book history as one of the most iconic covers ever illustrated.
