Imagine a sentient planet. Sounds cool, right? Now picture that planet with its own Green Lantern ring, and you have Mogo. First seen in the story Mogo Doesnt Socialize, Mogo is arguably the most powerful individual Green Lantern. It has been instrumental in many victories over the years, whether it was helping stop Superboy Prime in Infinite Crisis or absorbing the invading Black Lanterns into its core during Blackest Night, it is an irreplaceable members of the Corps. Hell, it can even come back to life all on its own. After John Stewart channeled Black Lantern energy to kill Mogo when it was corrupted by Parallax, the planet slowly reformed its core until it became whole again. No White Lantern necessary. However, Mogos importance extends beyond sheer power. It's instrumental to the Green Lantern Corps continued survival for two reasons. First, Mogo directs the Green Lantern rings to replacements, a.k.a candidates who can overcome fear. Without it, the rings are directionless. Second, after the destruction of Oa at the hands of Relic, Mogo has become the new home base for Green Lantern Corps. Its still helping fight the forces of evil, and now its also providing shelter to its fellow Corpsmen. What a stand-up planet.
