10. Big Barda

Jack Kirby's Fourth World is one of his most unique creations, filled with fantastic worlds, colorful and complex characters, and concepts that set it apart from other spaces in the DC universe. One of its more notable characters is former Apokoliptan enforcer, New Genesis warrior and occasional housemaker, Big Barda.

Born on Apokolips 250 years ago, Barda was raised by Darkseid's right-hand woman, Granny Goodness to lead the fanatical woman warrior group, the Female Furies. Following an encounter with her future husband, Scott Free (Mr. Miracle), she has a change of heart and leaves the hellish world for Earth, where she then joins the Justice League as one of its heavy hitters.

As a New God, Barda has superhuman physical attributes, enabling her to go toe-to-toe with Wonder Woman herself, and take incredible amounts of physical punishment. She is also remarkably skilled in hand-to-hand combat due to her time in the Female Furies.

She also wields a weapon called the Mega-Rod, a staff that enables her to teleport vast distances and release energy blasts powerful enough to knock down the likes of Superman.

Fortunately, she and Mr. Miracle will have their moment in the limelight once the Ava DuVernay-directed New Gods film hits theatres, and showcase her story and might to audiences.
