10 Best Moments From Tom King's Batman
10. Bruce Eating A Burger With A Fork And Knife
It's a shame that Tom King has garnered a reputation for being perhaps a little too dramatic in his dialogue and storytelling, because when he wants to be funny, the man is hilarious.
Besides getting more mileage out of Kite Man than any other writer in DC history, King has also kept in mind that - being the son of two wealthy aristocrats and then being raised by his butler - there is no way that Bruce Wayne knows how to eat a hamburger.
In the opening issue of the "I Am Bane" storyline, Bruce calls the bat-family together to tell them to leave Gotham while he deals with Bane. However, the actual point of this conversation is lost on the audience, as well as Dick and the other boys, when Bruce pulls out his hamburger, and proceeds to slice it up like it's a prime ribeye steak with his plastic fork and knife.
While Dick, Damian, and Jason are amused, but not surprised, newcomer Duke is left absolutely speechless at the perfect visual summation of just how sheltered his boss truly is. A nice bit of levity for one of the more intense arcs in recent Batman history.
