10 Comic Book Deaths That Haven't Been Undone

3. Thomas And Martha Wayne

DC Comics

Thomas and Martha Wayne are intrinsic to Batman€™s story. If they hadn€™t been gunned down in Crime Alley by the mugger Joe Chill, Bruce Wayne probably wouldn'€™t have become a vigilante at all. It€™s understandable, then, that their deaths haven€™t ever been undone within the main DC Comics continuity. One notable €˜what if?€™ story about Bruce€™s parents emerged in 2011 with the publication of the Flashpoint comics.

Therein, it was posited by writer Geoff Johns that - in an alternate universe where Bruce got killed in lieu of his parent - perhaps Thomas would become Batman and Martha the Joker. But that€™s never happened in the main DC universe. The closest we€™ve come to a resurrection for Thomas and Martha was when Ra€™s al Ghul threatened to use one of his reincarnating Lazarus Pits on Bruce€™s parents, bringing them back as decomposed zombies. Naturally, Bruce managed to stop him.

Let's hope nothing like that ever happens, because bringing Bruce's parents back would be pure sacrilege.
