10. The Blob Eats The Wasp As Part Of A Punchline

Comic: Ultimatum #2

What Happened: Ultimatum was a crossover series in the Ultimate Universe meant to clean it up, but it didn't handle things in the nicest, or neatest way. The story kicks off with Magneto flipping the magnetic poles of the planet, which screws up Earth's axis. This results in some terrible weather, and the subsequent deaths of millions of innocent people.

There were a lot of deaths in the series, but the one that just ate at most fans (pun intended) was the death of Janet van Dyne, otherwise known as the Wasp. Hawkeye stumbles upon a rather disturbing scene, in which he finds the Blob hovering over Janet's corpse, which he was eating.

He's scooping out her guts, and eating them, which doesn't paint a pretty picture. He looks up to see Hawkeye, and quips, "Tastes like chicken," making the whole thing a gruesome joke.

Why Was It Insulting: It was a terrible way to kill off a character who was one of the founding members of the Avengers. The Wasp wasn't someone who could easily be defeated, but there she was, intestines on display as a disgusting monster was greedily eating them. The series itself wasn't a fan-favorite, and this one death stuck out as one of the worst.
