10 Comics Where You Couldn’t Help But Root For The Villain
7. Negan - The Walking Dead
In issue #100 of The Walking Dead, an iconic new villain swaggered onto the scene, wielding a baseball bat wrapped in razor wire and swearing up a storm. Brutally slaughtering a beloved character in front of his friends and family, it was the book's most shocking moment, and one which forever changed the collective fate of Rick Grimes and his fellow survivors.
One would think that there would be no going back from that. And yet, the foul-mouthed, bloodthirsty Negan proved so popular with fans (and the writer) that he just kept on going, long after the culmination of Robert Kirkman's All Out War storyline. In fact, Negan became such a fan favourite that he became one of the lucky few to survive all the way to the end.
His silly redemption arc be damned (can anyone really come back from after what he did to Glenn?), the simple fact is that this perfectly loathsome villain was just too fun to hate.
